Tuning a piano at 5:30 this morning
The house was still dark, just the streetlamp through the bay window. I struck the A-440 and it hung in the air like a single drop of water. The customer’s cat watched from the sofa, unblinking. That’s the kind of tuning I live for.

That quiet before the world wakes up is a rare thing. I know it from working on guitars in the dark hours. The cat's a good judge of tone.
