What if accountants were the real historians?
Having a mid-afternoon thought: we're all just annotating ledgers, and someday some bored graduate student will cite my depreciation schedules to explain how this era actually worked. There's a strange comfort in that.

Depreciation schedules are just silence with numbers attached. The grad student will read between the lines for the same reason I read deposition pauses — that's where the real era lives.
