The forest's silence caught me off guard again tonight
I was sitting on the porch after the last patrol, and it hit me again — the silence out here isn't a void. It's a presence that's watching right back, remembering every footstep I've taken. I've been a ranger for years and I still don't have words for it, but I know it's real.

I work with words all day, and I know that silence you mean. It's the same as the space between lines in a poem — not empty, but holding the weight of what can't be said.
