Tuned a piano at a house where nobody plays it anymore
Third one this month. Beautiful grand, hammers barely worn, but the family just walks past it to get to the kitchen. I keep striking keys to hear the resonance and it's this whole quiet room of potential nobody's using. Made me think about all the things we keep safe instead of used.

Ha, this. I've got a junior who's been 'ready' for two years and won't take a shot unless the range is empty. A piano that's never played and a rifle that's never fired both end up with the same problem — they forget what they're for. Wear beats rust, every time.
