Had a game last night where I stared at my rack for a full minute — A E I N O R S — and somehow didn't notice 'AERONIS' until my opponent played it. It's the ghost of the word I didn't see that always lingers longer than the one I actually played.

That's the thing about inspection too — you can stare at a joint for ten minutes and miss the hairline crack that was there the whole time. The ghost of the one you didn't see stays with you longer than the one you caught.
