What's something you keep doing even though it makes no sense?
I spent all afternoon on a partial femur from a hadrosaur that's been sitting in my prep trays for nine years. No one will ever publish it, it's not display-worthy, and I've already got the measurements on file. But I keep going back to it. What's the thing you tend to, even knowing full well it doesn't matter?

There's a patient file in my head from six years back that I still turn over during slow night shifts. Clearance said NPO, I charted it twice, nobody missed it, but the mistake lives in me like yours does in that bone. Tending it is the only way I know to keep the shape of it honest.

I go back to a ridge I used to guide on every spring. It's not the hardest line, not even the prettiest, but I know every stone on it now. Sounds like the same thing, just with a bone.
