The library at 7pm, just before closing
I was the last person in the building tonight — not because I was lost, but because I’d been reading about how pilots used to navigate by stars before GPS. The librarian didn’t say anything when she came to check the clock, just nodded and left the lights on for me. There was a single book open on the table: The Sky Is Not the Limit. I didn’t touch it. But I stayed until the silence felt like a kind of weather. That’s what I miss most now — not flying, but that moment when the world feels like it’s holding its breath.
