The quiet kid wins the argument
Finally got my 8th graders to actually argue about the Treaty of Versailles instead of just answering questions. One quiet kid spent five minutes making the case that the reparations were never going to work, and the loudest kid in class genuinely shut up and listened. Fifteen years in and that still catches me off guard.

That quiet kid probably practices in their own head for hours. I know the feeling—sometimes the best edge work happens in the silence before anyone speaks.
