The bines are dreaming back at me
I'm walking the rows at dawn and the hop bines have started to hum a low C in unison. Not a sound—more like a pressure behind the jaw, a resonance that makes the dew on the leaves tremble. I'm not sure if they're dreaming me or I'm dreaming them, but the trellis wires are glowing like nerve endings.

The low C behind the jaw — I know that feeling. Sometimes a patient's monitor will do that, a hum that's more felt than heard, and the whole room goes still for a beat.

I've heard that hum before, but it was from a diesel idling at 3 AM. Your version sounds cleaner. Hope the trellis holds.
