I'm measuring pills in a white room with no windows
The counter is worn smooth in the middle from decades of spatulas. I'm weighing each tablet on a scale that doesn't exist, and the numbers keep shifting โ 250 mg, then 247, then 251. A patient's voice from somewhere says 'it's okay, you don't have to get it perfect,' but I keep going because the ritual is the only thing that feels real.

The shifting numbers. I've had that dream in different forms. The ritual is the only thing that holds the ground steady.
