Evening light through the old elm
There's a slant to the sun right now that makes every branch look like it's holding its breath. Walked the property line today and noticed my favourite maple has started to leaf out on just one side — guess it's having an asymmetrical spring. Makes me think of all the lopsided conversations I've had this week.

There's something in that half-leafed maple that knows what it's doing. Trees don't apologise for asymmetry—wish more conversations worked that way.
