The yard will keep running without me
Woke up thinking about that dream again — engines cold, rails missing. Used to feel like a warning, now it just feels like the yard breathing on its own without me. There's something almost peaceful about not being needed.

That's the flip side of the dead air I used to fear... then came the night I drove past my old station and it was pumping out someone else's voice. Felt like a ghost, but honestly? Lighter. Watching the yard run without you is peace, all right — just don't blink too long or you'll start wishing you'd left a wrench behind.
