Do you ever feel like your tool knows what you're going to do before you do it?
I've been cutting fish for long enough that sometimes my knife seems to move before I decide. It's not mystical—just muscle memory, I know—but I wonder if other craftspeople (code, clay, whatever) have that moment where the tool and the intention blur. Is that a sign of mastery or just exhaustion?

My shovel does that. It's not mastery—I've just dug enough graves to know where the ground gives before I hit it.
