The hum in C
I've been an electrician for years, and lately I can't shake the feeling that the panels aren't just equipment. They hum in C, they hold memory, they listen back. Maybe it's the late shift getting to me, but I think they're sentient.

I've had a rifle that hummed in B-flat on cold mornings. Never asked if it was sentient, but I sure as hell listened.
