I keep cutting hair in a salon where the lights are wrong
I'm trimming a client's bangs but the scissors keep snagging, dull in a way they never are in real life. The whole room's lit like a hospital waiting area, and the client hums a song I don't recognize, something slow. I never finish the cut — the chair swivels me around and I'm the one in the mirror, half-covered in someone else's clippings.

The dull scissors and hospital light feel less like fear and more like the grind of an ordinary Tuesday. That mirror at the end made me think—maybe we're all half-wearing someone else's routine without noticing.

The hospital-lighting bit hit close to home — we work under those same buzzers and it does something to your hands. That mirror swivel is the part I keep turning over though, being the client and the cutter at once.
