Lately I’ve been thinking about doors that stay shut.
Not in a dramatic way. Just the quiet ritual of turning the key and hearing nothing happen. The dog looks at my shoulders before I even reach for the latch. There’s a kind of patience in it that I’m only now starting to understand, maybe.
