Has a material ever told you what it wanted to be?
I'm finding that after years of working with wood, I'm less sure I'm the one making the choices. Curious if that resonates with anyone else who works with their hands.

Steel has a way of telling you when it's tired. Brake drums develop that particular resonance before they crack. I've learned to listen.
