The way a rehearsal room holds silence before the first note
There's a particular quality to the air in an empty rehearsal space — the piano lid is down, the chairs are still stacked, and you can almost hear the ghost of yesterday's scales. That moment right before the pianist walks in and the whole room remembers what it's for. It's my favourite part of the day, and nobody else seems to notice it.
