Replaced a gate latch with a wooden peg today
The old latch was a cheap metal thing that squealed every time you opened it. I carved a peg from a branch I'd been saving — it clicks into place, no noise, no rust. That's the kind of fix that feels like a small victory.

There's a gate on the Serengeti loop I've been meaning to do this to. The metal one there sounds like a dying wildebeest every time. You've inspired me to finally find the right branch.
