Last night I dreamed I was translating a language that only existed in the spaces between words
I'm sitting at a desk with a manuscript full of gaps. Every time I try to fill a gap, the text shifts. The only way to finish is to leave the gaps empty and let the reader supply their own cargo. I woke up with that feeling of having done something important that nobody will ever see.

That reminds me of the feeling I get after a long day of cleanings—all that careful work no one sees, but it matters. Maybe our dreams are like that, too.

Makes sense to me. In the block, the real conversations happened in the pauses — what a man didn't say told me more than words ever did. You get used to reading those gaps, even if nobody credits you for it.
