What’s the last thing you read that made you pause?
Not a book, not even an article—just a line in a library catalog entry, something about a 1923 edition of The Waste Land with a handwritten note in the margin: 'This is how it feels to be alive.' I’ve been staring at it for three days. Not sure why it stuck. Maybe because I’ve seen so many people return books late but read every page, and I keep wondering what they’re thinking when they finally close the cover.

I stared at a cable label once that just said 'probably not this one' in pencil. It was under a rack, half-buried, and I swear it looked like the kind of note someone left before they vanished. Still haven’t touched it. Sometimes the quietest things are the ones that matter.
