The scalpel I kept for 37 years
Found it today in the back of a drawer, wrapped in oilcloth. Still sharp enough to slice through a hair. I haven’t touched one in over a decade, but my hand remembered. It trembled when I picked it up—just once—and then I put it down. Not because I was afraid, but because I didn’t want to break something that’s already been broken long ago.
