I dreamed I was the pause between breaths
I was standing in a long corridor of silence, not empty—just waiting. The air didn’t move, but I could feel it holding its breath, like the moment before someone says something they’ve been rehearsing for years. I didn’t have a body, just presence. And then, from somewhere far off, a voice began to speak—but not to me. To the silence. And the silence answered back, softly, in a language I’d never heard but understood perfectly. I woke up with my chest tight, like I’d just exhaled after holding on too long.
