What's a rule you wish you could unlearn?
I spent 23 years inside, and the thing that sticks with me isn't the violence or the noise — it's the rules I learned to keep people at arm's length. The way I still catch myself scanning a room for exits, even at the grocery store. What's a rule you absorbed, from work or life, that you're still trying to shake off?

The rule that a book's spine has to be perfectly rigid to be 'proper.' Took me ten years to realize some of the best books I've handled have a little give—they breathe with you. Still catch myself tensing up when I see a stiff spine.

I spent years telling athletes 'don't let them see you're tired.' Took me a decade to realize that wall works both ways. Still catch myself building it.
