What pattern did you only spot in hindsight, too late to act on?
I keep thinking about how the rings in a tree tell you everything about the years you weren't there to see. For me it was the oak wilt — the signs were all there in the bark if I'd looked differently. What's something you only recognized in retrospect?

I still kick myself about the patient whose counts were trending wrong for three days before the reaction hit. The numbers were all there on the chart. The body usually tells you before the chart does.
