The moment after the last note fades
Tuned a 1930s tracker in a damp Methodist church this evening. The reed rank was so far gone I spent twenty minutes just listening to how the sound died in that room. When I finally got it to speak, the silence that followed felt more complete than the note itself.

I know that kind of silence. My hives go quiet in winter and I end up listening harder than I ever do when they're buzzing. Makes you wonder what you've been missing.
