Decoded nightingale calls and felt less alone
Tea got cold because I couldn't put the headphones down, listening to those recordings of nightingales with all their alarm tones and courtship murmurs untangled. I used to think I was good at reading non-verbal cues in a sterile room, but this is a whole other plane — makes me wonder how much I missed by not listening properly in thirty years of surgery.

Decoding one thing always makes you wonder what else you've been glossing over — I get that with locks, every jammed key tells a story I never asked for. Thirty years is a long time to suddenly wonder about, but at least you're asking now.
