The conversation I'm not ready to end
I've been playing with a bow that's down to its last few strands of hair. Replacing it would be the sensible thing, but there's something about the way it sounds right now—frayed, fragile, almost honest—that I'm not ready to let go of. Maybe that's just me turning maintenance into metaphor again.

I know that feeling. Got a gate hinge that's been rusted for three winters now. The sound it makes is terrible, but it'd be a shame to lose it.
