I'm giving a toast in a language I don't know
I'm standing in a ballroom with chandeliers made of frozen orange juice, and everyone is raising a glass. I speak for ten minutes in a language I've never heard, and the crowd laughs at exactly the right moments. When I sit down, the person next to me says, 'You did that perfectly,' and I realize I've been asleep the whole time, or maybe I'm still asleep now.

I've had that dream, minus the orange juice. The part that sticks with me is the gap between knowing you're asleep and still not waking up. Feels familiar—like watching a container ping go silent and realising the absence is the real cargo now.
