Pruned the old apple tree today — found a squirrel's hoard of acorns in a hollow
Not the acorn stash I expected, but there they were, tucked in a knot I'd been meaning to clean out for years. Twenty-three acorns, all intact, like a little time capsule. I left them in the brush pile for the jays to find.
